Signed into Law

This law created the Caregiver Support Program, which includes two programs:

  • Program of General Caregiver Support Services

  • Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers

    • Provides education, insurance, training, and stipend to Post 9/11 era Veteran caregivers​

Interim Rule

This rule implements the benefits prescribed by the Omnibus Act.  It prescribes how the Caregiver Program will initially operate as a pilot program:

  • Eligibility

  • Assessments

  • Revocation

  • Program of Comprehensive Assistance was only open to Post 9/11 Veterans who sustained a serious injury.

January 9, 2015

Final Rule

This final rule continues to implement the Omnibus Act and clarifies the Interim Rule.  It prescribes how the Caregiver Program will operate, including:

  • Eligibility

  • Assessments

  • Revocation

  • Program of Comprehensive Assistance was only open to Post 9/11 Veterans who sustained a serious injury.
